Guest Speaker - District Governor Judy Ford
Judy's Rotary journey began in 1994 when she joined the Rotary Club of Drummoyne. Since then, Rotary has become a central part of her life, with more than three decades of service, leadership, and dedication to strengthening clubs and supporting communities. She has served as President of the Rotary Clubs of Castle Hill and Yass, and twice led the Rotary Club of Gungahlin. Along the way, she has held numerous board and leadership positions at both club and district level, serving across Districts 9680, 9710 and 9705. Judy has been an Assistant Governor, chaired two District Conferences, and in 2011 proudly represented Rotary as the Group Study Exchange (GSE) Team Leader to Germany. Passionate about building a stronger Rotary, Judy spent many years as District Chair for Membership and Club Development, developing strategies to attract new members, strengthen clubs, and help Rotary thrive into the future. She has also led portfolios in Community Service and Public Relations, always bringing enthusiasm, innovation, and a strong commitment to service. Today, Judy is fulfilling one of her greatest Rotary ambitions by serving as District Governor, where she is committed to inspiring clubs to create lasting impact in their communities. Judy's outstanding contribution to Rotary has been recognised with numerous honours, including a Paul Harris Fellow with five sapphires, the Rotary International Avenues of Service Citation, and the distinction of being the inaugural Rotarian of the Year for the Rotary Club of Gungahlin. Outside Rotary, Judy is an accomplished educator, fundraiser and leader. She holds a Master of Education (Honours), a Graduate Diploma in Computer Education, a Diploma of Management, and a Certificate in Digital and Direct Marketing. She is also a Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE) and an Emeritus Fellow of the Fundraising Institute of Australia (FFIA), reflecting a lifelong commitment to professional excellence and community service.
27th of August Meeting Recap
The meeting featured a presentation by Angus Smith, a young leader and ANU student, who shared his journey in leadership, community service, and international relations, including his upcoming trip to China to study. Members discussed the challenges and opportunities faced by young people today, such as the impact of social media, AI, and the competitive job market. Updates were given on club activities, including Interact and Gnomes. The group also touched on upcoming events, club directories, and personal updates from members. The conversation ended with thanks to Angus for his insightful talk and brief administrative reminders.
