What Our Club Members Want
In the Club Meeting on July 12, 2024, we discussed club goals for the year. Here is what members said.
What should be our main focus for the year?
Unified Projects: Select one or two projects for everyone to support.
Polio Focus: Concentrate efforts on eradicating polio and addressing post-polio syndrome.
Member Engagement: Increase active projects based on members' passions.
Awareness Projects: Initiatives where all members can help raise awareness.
Yearly Calendar: Schedule projects and activities for the entire year.
Small Cohort Projects: Organise small group events like trivia nights, fundraisers, and social activities.
Youth Focus: Continue supporting youth initiatives with fundraisers like BBQs.
Digital Presence: Maintain an updated website and social media presence.
Membership Benefits: Enhance understanding of the benefits of club membership.
Social Events: Increase events for members to get to know each other.
Collaboration: Engage in projects with other regional clubs.
Commitment to Visits: Ensure members visit at least one other club or area.
What are the Challenges and Advantages to Growing Club Membership to 40?
Growing the Rotary Club membership offers advantages like increased reach, diversity, efficiency, and financial stability. However, challenges include maintaining member engagement, especially online, clear communication of club goals, ensuring individual participation, and retaining members by making them feel welcomed and involved.
What are the challenges and advantages to growing donations to the Rotary Foundation?
While financial constraints and awareness issues pose challenges, the sense of ownership, collective achievement, and practical benefits of increased donations to the Rotary Foundation make it a valuable effort for our club. Addressing these challenges can enhance our contributions and support our mission.
Challenges: Financial constraints, including competing demands and the cost of living, limit contributions. There's a lack of awareness and promotion of the Foundation's work, and traditional fundraising methods are less popular. Not all members can participate in fundraising events, and other Rotary projects like RAWCS divert funds. Some believe contributions are only limited by personal financial capacity.
Advantages: Donating to the Rotary Foundation fosters a sense of ownership and collective achievement among members. Contributions allow the club to borrow back funds for projects after three years and increase eligibility for District Grants. Supporting our charity is prioritized, with half of the donated funds returning to the club for local projects, enhancing our financial health and impact.
