Ros joined Rotary after retiring from working in mostly the public service for almost 35 years.
Ros grew up on an irrigated rice farm in the Kooba area between Griffith and Darlington Point in NSW. This greatly influenced her life as she went onto studying agriculture at the former Wagga Agricultural University, now Charles Sturt University. Soon after she joined the Wagga Agricultural Institute where she has spent over 30 years working in plant and soil research.
Early after leaving tertiary education in 1982 Ros spent a year travelling through Africa with a little-known acquaintance. The acquaintance, Peter, is now her
husband and they live on small acreage on the outskirts of Wagga. They have 3 adult children, Myles (Sydney), Hannah (Wagga) and Penny (Melbourne), several
free-loading chooks and one too many brown snakes!
Ros has a long term commitment to the Wagga Urban Landcare Group (long-term treasurer), is secretary for Downside Rural Fire Brigade, is an active Justice of the
Peace on community desks, does long-distance client pick-ups for the Cancer Council and is in the second term on two Wagga Wagga City Council advisory groups.
Joining Rotary with its established framework has been another way to contribute to the community.
Apart from community work, interests include gardening, travel, films, chooks and reading.
